Brexit: What You Need to Do

As you are aware the UK was planning to leave the EU on 31 October 2019. However the UK has left EU on 31 January 2020.

There is now a transition period until the end of 2020 while the UK and EU negotiate additional arrangements.

The current rules on trade, travel, and business for the UK and EU will continue to apply during the transition period.

New rules will take effect on 1 January 2021. Get ready for Brexit!

Employing from EU

There will be no change to the right to work of EU, EEA and Swiss citizens and their family members living in the UK until 31 December 2020 if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.

Visiting the EU after Brexit

To visit Europe after Brexit there are things you need to do before you travel. These include:

  • check your passport
  • get travel insurance which covers your healthcare
  • check you have the right driving documents
  • organise pet travel - you need to contact your vet at least 4 months before you go

EU citizens living in the United Kingdom

If you’re an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, you and your family can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021. If your application is successful, you’ll get either settled or pre-settled status.
